Holmar Invest Ltd. sawing down branches from air in order to free power lines from growing or fallen trees.
Hor the first time in Estonia Holmar Invest Ltd. in association with Helitour Ltd began to saw down tree branches located next to a power line from a helicopter. When cutting the trees a nine blade circular saw with a 40 horsepower engine is vertically hung underneath the helicopter with a pliable connection link. The saw is eight meters long and weighs 350 kilograms. As the helicopter moves along the power line, the saw will cut down any tree branches that would otherwise grow in to the power line in the future. By doing so, it is also secured that in case the tree should ever fall in a storm, it would not fall in the direction of the power lines but in the other direction where heavier branches will weigh it down. The level of professionalism expected from the helicopter pilot to carry out this kind of a task is second to none. In order for the blade to stay clear of the power lines, the pilot must focus all of his attention on the saw. The same type of special tasks have been carried out in other Scandinavian countries for many years. Our partner Helitour Ltd has a great array of experiences in this field.
